Every day we are tempted to fix our attention on what is temporary: wealth, pleasure, status, or other earthly advantages. In themselves, these things are not necessarily wrong, but what matters is the place they occupy in our hearts. When Christ is no longer first, we can easily lose our direction. Moses kept his eyes fixed on God and on the eternal reward. This brought him great suffering and the difficult task of leading a rebellious people. Yet he remained faithful until the end of his life.
God calls us as well to keep our eyes fixed on Christ and His promises. What we focus on determines the direction of our faith. Some believers miss out on blessings or rewards because they give up along the way or quit just before the finish line. That is why perseverance is so important. Keep your eyes on the Invisible One and remain faithful to the path God has set before you.
Are you on the verge of giving up on your marriage, stepping away from your ministry, or giving in to discouragement and suffering? Do not give up. Fix your eyes on the reward and keep them on Jesus. He did not shrink back from the cross but remained faithful even to death. Therefore, He received the Name that is above every name. Hold on a little longer!
