Sexual intercourse belongs exclusively within marriage

The husband should give to his wife her conjugal rights, and likewise the wife to her husband” (1 Corinthians 7:3)

Sexuality is a beautiful gift of God that we may enjoy. But in order for this gift to flourish, God gave some clear boundaries. Sexual intercourse belongs within the safety and intimacy of marriage. It is not meant to please oneself, but to express your love for your spouse. The apostle Paul even says that “…the wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. Likewise, the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does” (1 Corinthians 7:4).

“Becoming one flesh” with somebody is not just about sexual intercourse. It is also about emotional intimacy and safety and about lifelong faithfulness — which should exist in every marriage. Therefore, all sexual relationships outside marriage are forbidden. Since our body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, we should glorify God in it. This is not possible if we commit sexual immorality. Therefore, the Bible exhorts us.
Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled” (Hebrews 13:4).

Do you keep the rules God has given about sexuality?
