“If the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit Who dwells in you.” (Romans 8:11)
Jesus Christ conquered death — not only for Himself but also for “those who belong to Christ.” (1 Corinthians 15:23)
On our own, we have no power over death. Yet God’s Spirit lives within believers, and He gives useternal life.
The new life that the Spirit gives, is first of all spiritual. In this sense, we receive eternal life as soon as we come to faith. From that moment onward, we walk in newness of life, delivered from Satan’s dominion and freed from spiritual death.
Currently though, our physical bodies remain mortal and fragile, bearing the painful consequences of sin in a broken world. But at the end of time, Jesus will return to earth in glory. He will raise all of His children to dwell with Him on the new earth. This is what Jesus declared in John 11:25-26, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in Me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in Me shall never die.”
The reality of death confronts us every day. The promise of resurrection is not visible to the eye—it is grasped by faith alone. Do you believe God will raise His children from the dead? Will you be among them?
