Pharaoh doesn’t truly repent

“But when Pharaoh saw that the rain and the hail and the thunder had ceased, he sinned yet again and hardened his heart, he and his servants.” (Exodus 9:34)

The Egyptians were deeply impressed by the plagues God brought upon them, “such as had never been in all the land of
Egypt since it became a nation”. Pharaoh even admitted: “This time I have sinned; the LORD is in the right, and I and my people are in the wrong. Plead with the LORD, for there has been enough of God’s thunder and hail. I will let you go, and you shall stay no longer” (verse 27). But hardly had the plague ceased, before Pharaoh hardened his heart again. This occurred over and over again.

Pharaoh and his servants were impressed by God’s miracles, they acknowledged his power, and yet they didn’t truly repent and obey the LORD. Once the problems were over, they forgot about their promises and hardened their hearts.
That’s what many people do. They cry out to God when they can’t fix their own problems, but they turn their back on Him as soon as the problems are solved. That’s not discipleship. That’s not fearing God. That’s just a lie.
