Peter meets Jesus

And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” (Matthew 4:19)

We have so many influences in our lives, pulling us in all directions. “If you follow this diet, you can avoid dementia!” or “If you invest in this stock, you will be wealthy!” or “Follow this lifestyle to find true happiness!”

What are your priorities? Do you adhere to a specific routine or follow a particular philosophy? Do you follow a well-known personality? a guru? What are you life circumstances? Are you free to choose or is your freedom limited? Regardless of your circumstances, you can likely relate to this question: “What is true, and who can I trust?”

Peter was a fisherman, just like his father until one day, Jesus stood by his boat and said, “Follow me”. Peter didn’t even know who Jesus was, but the question was so powerful that Peter didn’t doubt for a moment, but followed Jesus. On the way, he discovered Jesus’ great love for humanity. He listened attentively to Jesus and came to know that all the Jesus said and did was true. Thus, Peter became ‘a fisher of men’ as Jesus had said. Peter would go on to spend his life sharing the love of Jesus with others.

The words of Jesus are true and trustworthy. Have you discovered this for yourself?

What do you think is important in life? How would you like to discover more about Jesus?
