And when Jesus entered Peter’s house, he saw his mother-in-law lying sick with a fever. He touched her hand, and the fever left her, and she rose and began to serve him. (Matthew 8:14-15)
Peter entered a whole new way of life. He listened to Jesus’ teaching concerning the will of His Father in heaven. He saw that Jesus as the Son of God had power to heal the sick and to forgive sins. Even his own mother-in-law was healed when Jesus touched her.
Perhaps you too have experienced the miracle of healing and the joy it brings. Such a miracle strengthens our faith. Or perhaps you are full of questions, wondering why you haven’t been healed although you have prayed for so long. It is easy to feel jealous. Maybe you have someone in your life who needs healing, and it hasn’t happened. This can be quite a spiritual struggle.
Just because Jesus hasn’t healed you or someone you love doesn’t mean you are any less important to Him. Whether we are healthy or ill, our lives are always of significance to Jesus and He reveals His love and truth in our lives. That’s not much consolation when you really hope for healing. Yet it can be comforting to know that no believer will be abandoned. Jesus will not leave us or forsake us in times of sickness or pain. He understands that we have questions, and He won’t let us go. As we go to God’s Word, what is your prayer for today?
