What does it mean that Jesus died for me?

Last updated on June 2, 2022

Jesus died for you because He loves you: “the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me” (Galatians 2:20).

Jesus died for you so that He, in your place, would bear God’s anger on your sin: “Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood”, (Romans 3:24-25).

Jesus died for you so there would be no condemnation for you: “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus… Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died”, (Romans 8:1,34).

Jesus died for you to forgive your sins: “This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins”, (Matthew 26:28).

Jesus died for you to reconcile you with God: “were reconciled to God by the death of his Son”, (Romans 5:10).

Jesus died for you so you would not need to be afraid of Satan and his demons anymore: “the record of debt… he set aside, nailing it to the cross. He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame”, (Colossians 2:15).

Jesus died for you to break the power of sin in your life: “the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to deliver us from the present evil age”, (Galatians 1:3-4).

Jesus died for you so you may freely enter into God’s presence in prayer: “we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus”, (Hebrews 10:19).

Jesus died for you so that you would hate sin and rejoice in doing good: “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness”, (1 Peter 2:24).

Jesus died for you to guarantee you would always have faith and never again turn away from God: “This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many”, (Mark 14:24). “I will make with them an everlasting covenant… And I will put the fear of me in their hearts, that they may not turn from me”, (Jeremiah 32:40).

Jesus died for you to make sure you would be raised from the dead: “For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his”, (Romans 6:5).

Jesus died for you to give you eternal life: “God… gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life”, (John 3:16).

Jesus died for you to start you on your way to holiness now and to guarantee that in eternity you will be perfectly as God wants you to be: “For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified”, (Hebrews 10:14).

All these wonderful things that Jesus accomplished through his death are only for you if you have faith in Christ. So believe in Him and live!
