Jesus works through the Holy Spirit

“And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles.” (Acts 2:43)

When Jesus was traveling through Israel and preaching about God’s coming Kingdom, His message was accompanied by miracles. He healed sick people, cast out demons, stilled a storm, fed thousands of people with just five loaves and two fish, and even raised people from the dead… All these miracles showed Jesus’ divine power, and they gave a glimpse of what God’s Kingdom is like.

Similarly, “many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles”. Jesus’ power has not ‘gone’ after his ascension into heaven. By sending the Holy Spirit upon the apostles, He gave them power to preach and to do miracles as well. That way, God showed that His Spirit continues to work through believers. His Kingdom is breaking through more and more. The church is a temple of the Holy Spirit (see 1 Peter 2:5), and that was made clear by the wonders and signs done through the apostles. Jesus is not bodily present on earth anymore, but He is still present in believers and working through them. As He promised: “And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20)

Did you ever felt Jesus working through you?
