Jesus Christ has all power

“For to this end Christ died and lived again, that he might be Lord both of the dead and of the living.” (Romans 14:9)

Before God the Son came to earth as a human being, He had as much power and glory as God the Father and the Holy Spirit. He chose to temporarily lay it aside when He set His great plan of salvation in motion. But after His resurrection and ascension, He resumed His position in the heavenly realms. He now reigns over the living and the dead—no human being is outside His dominion. Angels, powers, and forces are subject to Him (see 1 Peter 3:22). All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Him (Matthew 28:18). Today’s Bible verse tells us that Christ died and rose again for this purpose: to establish His universal rule.

The Bible also tells us honestly that we do not yet see that everything is subject to Jesus. There are so many forces that still resist His Kingdom! However, this will not always be so. Ultimately, Jesus will destroy all His enemies and reign as a righteous King in the world to come, “far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named.” (Ephesians 1:21)

Do you recognize Jesus Christ as your supreme Lord? How can you honor Him in a fitting way?
