The wolf shall dwell with the lamb,
and the leopard shall lie down with the young goat,
and the calf and the lion and the fattened calf together;
and a little child shall lead them.
” (Isaiah 11:6)

The brokenness of this world can leave us sad and desperate. There is so much suffering and evil; will it ever come to an end? Yes, it will. God offers us glimpses of the “ideal world” He will create. In the book of Revelation, He says that this new earth will not know death, mourning, crying or pain anymore (Revelation 21:4).

Since Jesus has solved the problem of human sin at the cross, the new earth will be free from sin and its consequences. Man will live there in harmony with God, with fellow humans and with the animals. The prophet Hosea speaks about a covenant that God will establish “with the beasts of the field, the birds of the heavens, and the creeping things of the ground” (Hosea 2:18). The prophet Isaiah says that wolves, leopards, bears, cobras and lions will not do any harm to children or young animals.

In God’s perfect world, all will dwell in safety. And the most importantly, “the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord” (Isaiah 11:9). In God’s Kingdom, there is no room for people who reject the Lord and remain in their sin. Only people who believe in Him, are welcomed in.

Will you dwell on this new earth?
