“And on that very day the LORD brought the people of Israel out of the land of Egypt by their hosts.”(Exodus 12:51)

God’s promise of deliverance has come true. He has done what He told Moses and the Israelites, and what He had promised Abraham centuries before. 430 years after the Israelites settled in Egypt, they left the country (Exodus 12:40-41, compare Genesis 15:13-14). Even the prophecy in Genesis that the Israelites “shall come out with great possessions” came true (Exodus 12:35-36).

Nobody would have considered that possible, given their hopeless situation of oppression, genocide and slavery. But God has shown that He is able to fulfill all of his promises. He really is “I AM WHO I AM”. He is almighty. He is faithful to his promises. He cares for his people in their desperate situation. He is with them.

This God has not changed. When Jesus was about to leave his disciples and return to his Father, He assured them: “And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:20). That promise still holds.

As a believer, does it comfort you to know that God is with you and that He is faithful?
