“For yours is the Kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen.”
(Matthew 6:13)

The concluding prayer of the “Our Father” explains why we direct our petitions to God and nobody else: He has the power over everything, and thus is able to give us all that is good. Moreover, our prayer aims to honor and glorify Him. That is our life goal, and the ultimate goal of all creation.

With this statement we also acknowledge God as King over our life. Not we, but He is in charge. We live under His guidance – and since God is our loving Father, that is the best place we can think of.

At the same time, we repeatedly tend to prioritize our own wishes and longings, even when these don’t fit in God’s plan. This prayer reminds us of our position, and helps us to put our life in the right perspective.

What is keeping you from making God and His Kingdom really your number one priority in life?
