“One thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:13-14)
Things we did in the past, or things that have happened to us, can affect our present life. If we were hurt by people, we may have difficulty trusting again. Were we failing in school and told we were dumb, we may lack self-esteem. If we committed some crime, we may feel ashamed.
However, God offers us freedom from our past. He knows exactly what we have done wrong, but will cast our sins into the depths of the sea (Micah 7:19). He remembers them no more once they have been forgiven. The Lord will heal us and take away the shame of what happened.
So, if we receive God’s forgiveness for any sin we’ve committed, we can be free from the sins of our past.
Or when it comes to injustice that other people have done to us. Therefore, if this keeps haunting us, God has given us the key of forgiveness.
It is extremely hard to forgive those who have sinned against us. If we do so, it shall bring real freedom and deliverance for both sides…
Is there anything in your past that needs to be forgiven?
“I have seen everything that is done under the sun, and behold, all is vanity and a striving after wind” (Ecclesiastes 1:14).
“And he who was seated on the throne said, ‘Behold, I am making all things new.’” (Revelation 21:5)
