Freedom from the consequences of sin

And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, ‘Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.’” (Revelation 21:3-4)

The last type of freedom that Jesus offers us, has not yet reached its fullness. This end goal will only be reached when Jesus comes back to create new heavens and a new earth. Creation is longing for that moment, and many believers echo the words of the apostle John: “Come, Lord Jesus!” (Revelation 22:20).

When Jesus’ Kingdom has reached its fullness, both sin and its consequences will be gone completely. Ever since sin has come into the world, people have suffered from pain, grief and death. But these will be no more on the new earth, when “the former things have passed away”. Not only humans will be freed from their suffering, but the natural environment will be, too: “Creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption” (Romans 8:21). The new earth will be beautiful, peaceful and glorious. God and man will dwell together in perfect harmony.

This is the future God has in store for you if you believe in Him, give up your sinful life, and follow Him. It is the only road to real and lasting freedom. It is God’s gift for you.
