“Teach me your way, O Lord, and lead me on a level path” (Psalm 27:11)
David sings about God’s glory and beauty. His heart is so full of God that he needs nothing more. His life is far from easy, but the glory of God puts him at ease and gives him peace. Is this your experience?
When you are in this frame of mind, and your heart’s desire is after God, you will find your needs are met and you don’t have to be anxious. Enveloped in God’s love, you desire to please Him.
In David’s life, the Lord is his light and His salvation (Psalm 27:1). Jesus refers to Himself as “the Light of the World” (John 8:12). John calls Him “the true light, which gives light to everyone [came] into the world” (John 1:9). David prays that the Lord will show him His way, that God will instruct him, following His commandments. If you walk thus in God’s light, you won’t get lost and you will be saved.
David is a seeker and he wants to experience God. You can do that too: pray that God will grant you the light of His Spirit, ask Him to help you as you study the Bible, as you faithfully attend meetings with believers to praise and worship the Lord. Ask Him to strengthen and correct you as you practise your faith. Free from impediments, prepared to obey His commandments, we can enter the house of the Lord.
