Following Jesus means to be with Him forever

Last updated on February 16, 2022

What does the Bible teach us about the second coming of Jesus?

I will come again and will take you to Myself, that where I am you may be also” (John 14:3)

Jesus has given up everything to save His children from sin and death. He loved them from before the foundation of the world and He will love them forever. He is concerned about them and wants them to be with Him.

Forty days after His resurrection, Jesus left His disciples. He returned to His Father in heaven. But this separation was only temporary. He promised to come back and take them with Him.
This is what believers are longing for. The apostle Paul even says that he “would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord” (2 Corinthians 5:8).

To be honest, this longing can temporarily diminish if we are leading a comfortable life and everything goes well, or if we are busy with all kinds of things besides God’s Kingdom. But we should never forget that our earthly home is only temporary. Our life is kept with Christ in God and our final destination is to be with Him forever.

Are you longing for Jesus’ return?
