Following Jesus means living in the light

Do we have to light candles while we pray?

I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12)

Jesus says that He is the light of the world. He wants to deliver us from the domain of darkness, controlled by Satan. He welcomes us into His own Kingdom of light and life.
God’s light is marvelous and good. It offers life and joy. It frees us from the fear and hopelessness that characterize a life under Satan’s dominion.

But the light also reveals our ugly habits and character traits. It exposes things we may prefer to keep hidden from God and from others. When you walk in the light, you can’t hide this anymore. Even the darkest corner of your heart is exposed. Are you willing to lay your heart open before Jesus? Can He see all your thoughts and dreams?

If you live in the light, your way of living must match the light. “Works of darkness” do not belong there. Goodness, righteousness and truth do. In this way, we can spread the light of the Lord to those around us by making our lives stand out in a positive way.

How has your life changed since you came to faith?
