Doing God’s will

“Let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”
(Matthew 6:10)

We long for God’s will to be done fully and gladly, like it is in heaven. We know that God’s will is good, and want to obey it. That means often that we have to forsake our own will, and Jesus shows us how far this can go. He knows He is soon going to suffer and die, and even then He prays: “Let your will be done”.

This forsaking of our own will is difficult. We ask for God’s help. We want to be so filled with Him, that there is no place left for anybody or anything else.

Doing God’s will presupposes knowing God’s will. It is important to study the Bible, and to learn what is God’s will. Only so can our lives honor Him. Also when we have to make important decisions, we may take God’s Word as our guideline, and pray for God’s direction in our lives.

Do you take time every day to study God’s Word?
