Can you go to heaven without dying?

Can you go to heaven without dying?

Can people still directly go to heaven without passing through death?

The Bible tells us about Henoch and Elijah who were taken to heaven by the Lord without dying. These are unique cases and not part of how God deals with His people today.

However, the event that all Christians look forward to is the end of the world, which for us holds no fear, only expectancy of being forever with the Lord. In Matthew 24 Jesus begins to teach about the end of the world. In Matthew 24:30 and 31 He says that “the Son of Man will appear in the sky……. and he will send his angels to gather his elect from the four winds…

For those who have died already, and those who are still alive will all be gathered together in heaven. Paul in 1 Corthinthians tries to explain these things, but he says it is a mystery. In 1 Corinthians 15:51 he says that we will not all die, but we will all be changed, and have a body that is imperishable. We will have a body like Christ had when he rose from the dead.

So all believers who will be alive at Jesus’ coming will have the same experience as Henoch and Elijah: they will be in the presence of the Lord without having tasted death.
