God’s holiness calls His people to live differently from those around them. Attitudes such as resentment, bitterness, and revenge do not reflect the character of our heavenly Father. He has made it clear that final judgment belongs to Him alone. Living according to biblical values therefore means letting go of the world’s sinful patterns and choosing instead the enduring principles that God has given us.
Genuine love for our neighbor also requires the courage to address someone’s wrongdoing at the right time. Remaining silent when something is clearly wrong can allow evil to continue and make us complicit in it. The Bible teaches that an honest rebuke is better than hidden affection that fails to help another person grow. We see this principle in the ministries of the prophets and in Jesus’ letters to the churches in Revelation. He commended them for what they were doing well, but He also lovingly and honestly confronted them with their shortcomings.
Examine whether your way of life is clearly different from the standards of the world, and continually seek to align your life with God’s holiness.
