Characteristics of true wisdom

“The one who gets wisdom loves life; the one who cherishes understanding will soon prosper.” (Proverbs 19:8 NIV)

“A person’s wisdom yields patience; it is to one’s glory to overlook an offense.” (Proverbs 19:11 NIV)

Good judgment and prudence are valuable qualities that testify to care for oneself and for others. Whoever develops these virtues lays a solid foundation for his life, acts thoughtfully, and wins the trust and respect of those around him. Biblical wisdom teaches us to remain emotionally balanced and not to give in to impulsive reactions.

A second characteristic of spiritual maturity is self-control. This enables us to remain calm when we are challenged or hurt. The ability to endure an insult without reacting with anger or revenge testifies to inner strength. Whoever loses his self-control often experiences the consequences and leaves no good testimony. Especially in these times, there is a great need for people who are guided by wisdom, thoughtfulness, and peace. They can bring calm to situations full of tension and division. Therefore, choose to let your life be guided by caution and self-control. In this way, you can exert a positive influence on the people around you.
