The apostle Paul had an exceptional ministry, characterized by revelations, miracles, and an untiring commitment to the gospel. Yet he also carried a “thorn in the flesh”: a lasting limitation that reminded him of his human vulnerability. Despite his repeated prayers to be delivered from this, God allowed it to remain and revealed a fundamental principle of His Kingdom: His grace is sufficient.
God does not desire human perfection to demonstrate His power. On the contrary, His power becomes visible precisely in the midst of our weakness. When we encounter our limitations, this need not discourage us; instead, we may know ourselves to be dependent on God in all humility. Then our attitude towards others also becomes gentler. It is not about hiding our weaknesses, but about humbly acknowledging them, so that the power of Christ can guide our lives.
God chooses to work through vulnerable people, so that all glory belongs to Him.
