Meeting and bearing witness

‘…and He said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, and that repentance for the forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things”’ (Luke 24:46-48).

The angels instructed the women to tell the disciples about Jesus’ resurrection (Matthew 28:7). The disciples on the road to Emmaus immediately returned to Jerusalem to tell everyone that they had met Jesus in the flesh (Luke 24:33). Time and again, people are motivated to tell others that Jesus is alive. Everyone must know.

Forty days after His resurrection Jesus returned to His Father in heaven. Yet Jesus’ presence on earth did not come to an end. His followers were commissioned to tell others about Him: who He is, what He has done, and how He calls people to turn their lives and hearts towards Him, to open their lives to His words and repent of their sins. Jesus’ disciples became apostles who told others that through His death on the cross, He offers forgiveness and salvation from sin. He is alive and everyone who believes in Him will receive eternal life in His kingdom. The Gospel of Jesus has gone out into the world and has reached and transformed billions of lives. Through the ministry of other believers, this Gospel has reached you too. Who will be next to meet Jesus through your witness?

Thank Jesus today for the people through whom you came to know Him.

Pray for the courage and the right way to pass on to others what you once received.
