“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:10)
God created us with the intention that we would live in joy and harmony with Him. But our current reality looks very different: “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). Our “quality of life” has been compromised because the connection with our Creator has been disrupted. The Bible even says that we are spiritually dead — so serious is our situation.
It was not God’s fault that things went so wrong. Yet He does offer a solution. He wants to “make us alive with Christ.” He creates a pure heart in us, enabling us to reach our purpose as renewed people.
God has already prepared “good works” for us to do. He has mapped out the path for our lives that we can “walk” in.
The “good works” that God has prepared for us are not necessarily very specific. (Such as leading a children’s club in our church or going on a mission trip to a certain region). The “good works” are about the fruit of the Spirit that becomes visible in the lives of believers, and enables them to live “in true righteousness and holiness.” (Ephesians 4:24). He teaches us to live in love, joy, and peace.
Only if we are connected to Jesus Christ can we reach our purpose. Do you experience this too? What is your life goal?
